(where availble)
1.
OCTOPUS (V. Mastoridis) – a hip-hopper; lyrics were written
with the help of pupils from a few generations of WPIS*
(Woodside Park International School) in London; an amazing
non-sense song; composed and recorded 2004
2. DIWALI
(V. Mastoridis) – Lyrics were written with the help of 3C from
WPIS; Benita from the same class was the one who gave the
strongest impact : when we started to sing some idea for a song
about Diwalli, she said – this is so boring; so I had to change
all; and it turned into a great dance song; composed and
recorded 2005
3.
IT'S HARVEST (V. Mastoridis) English Country song about the
Festival; we (in WPIS) never had a “proper” Harvest song to
celebrate the Festival; this song came out of that need;
composed and recorded 2002
4.
LAUGHING SONG (V. Mastoridis) – a song about friendship,
really; in the first few years of my teaching as WPIS, I was
thoroughly enjoying it; this song captures the mood we had in
the classroom; composed and recorded 2002
5. BELLS (V. Mastoridis) – a winter song about
friendship; probably the first children’s tune I ever wrote;
transliterated from Macedonian language and piano by J. Hudson;
original lyrics by D. Jordanov; sung with Aideen Hasson;
composed 1992, recorded 2000
6. FLYING HORSE (V. Mastoridis) – fantasy
song; written with the help of I. Jordanov (5yrs old at that
time; when asked, what song would you like to write about? He
said – a flying horse, probably from watching a movie that
morning; transliterated, piano and vocals by J. Hudson; composed
1992, recorded 2000
7. PETER PAN 2 (V. Mastoridis) – fantasy song;
J. Hudson transliterated it, played the piano as well as sung on
it; D Jordanov wrote the original lyrics; he was very much into
Peter Pan those days. There is Peter Pan 1, which can be found
on “Moe Dete” (see below). composed 1992, recorded 2000
8. KINDERGARTEN (V. Mastoridis) – this is a
brain-washing song, written round 1996, when my nephew Jani
wouldn’t go to Kindergarten at all. I then wrote this song in
order to, er, wash his brain, really, about how good is to be
there, etc. it worked! A week later a neighbour came and asked
for a copy… composed 1996, recorded 2000
9. CHILD OF MINE (V. Mastoridis) – I wrote
this when Stefan, my son was just few months old (1992), lying
on the bed, small, helpless and smiling; it simply came out;
transliterated and piano by J. Hudson; composed 1992, recorded
2000
10. LONDON
(V. and Stefan Mastoridis) – this song celebrates the amazing
city of London in three languages – Macedonian, English and
Dutch; but the story behind it goes much deeper, so let me tell
it: we lived with my wife in Macedonia, moved to the Netherlands
(where our son Stefan was born), we divorced 1995, I moved to
London 1998, re-established my connection with Stefan 2001l;
now, around 2002 all that staff was behind, Stefan was in London
for a visit, we went shopping and it was so beautiful and
amazing bonding time as well. As we came home (one-room
bed-sit), all the things were just thrown on the floor, we
started singing and making this song. It catches the moment in
an amazing way; piano by J. Hudson; bass-guitar by Nikolay
Angarev; sung with S. Mastoridis; composed and recorded 2002
Recorded in Leyton, London. All compositions
are written and performed by Viktor Mastoridis, with the
exceptions as noted Cover design: Lydia Testa, 2OB at WPIS.
Pictures on inner cover by Navish, Sophia, Lavinia, Rosa, Owami
and Casey from 2OB at WPIS. With thanks to Mastoridis family,
friends and colleagues, and special thanks to Pavlina Bogoeva
