Story.
This is a description of a friend of mine, James H.:
"The song is really good. It
has a nice fresh laiki sound to it. A little retro, but I like
that. You should play it to some young Greeks and see what
they think. The band sounds good too. You should form a
permanent ensemble and work up some more songs like this."

Musically, the magic
lies in the
Tsamiko rhythm again, I think. Its flow of three slow
minims (half-notes) is just mesmerizing. Add the really long
melody in plain Harmonic Minor Scale and the solo bit, and
this is as close as I can get to Rebetiko (ρεμπέτικα)
style modern song.
The solo bit (which I
personally like) happened accidentally: I firstly recorded a
rough, unpracticed version
of it. But when I was trying to
record a "proper" version, after many futile attempts, I
realised that the rough version of the solo was actually the
best. |
