track De Tierra Lejana Venimos

Story. De Tierra Lejana Venimos means: we are coming from a far away land. It’s a traditional Puerto Rican Christmas Carol, depicting the journey of the Magi and their offering of gifts to the new-born child.

Beautiful song, beautiful melody. It has a lot of rhythm, beautiful sparkly rhythm. But also, the way we recorded the singing, it has the “silence of Christmas” - the magic stillness when Christmas arrives. This is the first of the songs which I was going to record for this Christmas (2007), but it will inevitably go to be released in time for next Christmas,2008.
I have done the arrangement and play the instrument and sing a few voices, while Djanan Turan (www.djananturan.com) and Ginka Karaivanova (both pictured) sing the main parts.

Instruments: Acoustic Guitar, Baglamas, Mandolin and keyboards

1.

(chorus)

English Translation: SONG OF THE WISE MEN

From a far away land, The Savior we come seeking,
Using as our guide the star, so brightly beaming.

Refrain:
Lovely Eastern Star, that tells us of God's morning,
Heaven's wondrous light,
O never cease Thy shining, peace and love to men.
Glory in the Highest to the Son of Heaven,
And upon the earth be

Glowing gold I bring to the new-born Babe so holy,
Token of His pow'r to reign above in glory.

Refrain

Frankincence I bring to the Child of God's own choosing,
Token of our pray'rs to Heaven ever rising.

Refrain

Bitter myrrh have I to give the infant Jesus,
Token of the pain the He will bear to save us.

Refrain
