about

Here I did something that I have never done before. I have often re-arranged and re-recorded many Balkan tunes. I transformed many folk melodies in contemporary sounding arias, and never did I dare to touch the core of the melodic line. In the past, may have changed the rhythms, made certain notes longer or shorter, still the essence of the musical phrases would remain. Now, what started with previous pieces on My Greek Christmas Album (Deck The Halls and Oh Little Town) where I dramatically change the mood of the original tune, continues here.
I change the actual melody. The second note of the first phrase (“Three”) is in a sharp 4th step instead of a natural 4th. That adds a bit of oriental mood to the whole sound, and brings it closer to the Orient, where the wise men came from; for whatever reason transformed into kings by the tradition, although it's more likely that they were priests from the Zoroastrian religion.
